JR. NBA MOZAMBIQUE

Each Jr NBA basketball program involves 30 schools, 460 girls, 10-13 years old and more than 3000 spectator students. Basketball training, with tournaments, runs alongside life skills learning.
Basketball is the perfect way to teach sportsmanship, teamwork, key life skills and and ‘I can do it’ attitude. Sport is an important vehicle for social and personal change. Through Jr NBA, Clarisse Machanguana Foundation (FCM) provides like skills to help young people thrive with more educational, athletic and employment opportunities

Skills trainings

Youth account for 60% of all Africa’s jobless, 258 million children and adolescents aren’t in school.
In Mozambique 53% of the population is women, who contribute very little to the GDP and country’s economy.
Clarisse Machanguana Foundation aims to reduce the unemployment gap by providing skills training to deserving youth.

SABER É VIVER

Saber é Viver (To know is to live): Creating an HIV free generation in Mozambique. Launched in 2016, Saber é Viver (SEV) is a national, HIV education and de-stigmatisation program to increase youth and child testing and treatment. It is designed and implemented by the foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Health and PEPFAR. So, far it has reached more than 1.8 million people.

Through corporate sponsors, we set out a challenging walk to raise awareness. In partnership and support of FCM and Saber e Viver, we continue to change the direction of HIV in Mozambique.

Our goal is to continue to raise awareness of HIV and erase the stigma that it carries.  We are asking local and national leaders to take ownership of their HIV status and urge the citizens of Mozambique to get tested and seek appropriate treatment.
